Bequest Language
Although there are many forms bequests can take, the following are among the most common:
A percentage of the estate:
"I give and bequeath to Bread & Roses, a California nonprofit organization located in Corte Madera, California, _________% of my estate."
A residual bequest:
"All the residue of my estate [or __% of the residual of my estate], including real and personal property, I give and bequeath to Bread & Roses, a California nonprofit organization located in Corte Madera, California."
A fixed amount of money or a designated property:
"I give and bequeath to Bread & Roses, a California nonprofit organization located in Corte Madera, California, $_________" (or describe the real or personal property, including exact location).
A Charitable Remainder Trust:
You can provide a family member or friend with income for life through a special gift to Bread & Roses. You can do this by establishing a charitable remainder trust either during your lifetime or, through your will, on your death. The trust pays income to the person you designate. After that person's death, whatever remains in the trust passes to Bread & Roses.

Financial Information
2011 Financial Review |
2011 IRS Form 990 |
| Finance/Review Committee: The Board Finance Committee is comprised of independent board members who are not on staff and includes a minimum of one finance professional at all times. This committee also serves as the Audit/Review Committee. The Finance Committee is directly responsible for overseeing the auditor/reviewer’s activities. It also sets rules and processes for internal control practices. In California, the Nonprofit Integrity Act of 2004 requires that any charity registered with the attorney general and receiving annual gross revenues of $2 million or more must form an audit committee. Although Bread & Roses does not meet that $2 million threshold requirement, we voluntarily undergo an independent third-party financial review each year. |
