Our spotlight on Berkeley’s New Bridge Foundation is the seventh in a series highlighting our wide range of facility partners in honor of our 50th Anniversary.
With over 55 years of experience, New Bridge Foundation is considered one of the most prominent addiction treatment centers in Northern California. Since 2020, it has also ranked as one of America’s “Best Addiction Treatment Centers” (per a survey conducted by Statista in cooperation with Newsweek). Like Bread & Roses Presents, the New Bridge Foundation is a nonprofit organization, which means that 100% of their profits are put back into their facilities and the substance abuse treatment they offer.
Our partnership with New Bridge began in 1997. Over 27 years, we have produced 234 shows featuring such distinguished artists as Ron Artis II, La Pena Community Chorus, Los Mocosos, Hot Buttered Rum, Shana Morrison, Mark Hummel, Eric & Susie Thomson, Maurice Tani, Austin Willacy, Shelley Doty & Vicki Randle, and many, many more.
Some of the artists who have performed at New Bridge over the years have gone through their own addiction recovery journeys. At the rousing end of a recent performance, we watched the performer unveil his 30-year AA “chip.” This small act was met with a roar of support and approval from the crowd – it was an unspoken, yet deeply resonant way of saying “you too can do this.” This unique and mutually supportive bond between performer and audience could only be found at a Bread & Roses performance.
Bread & Roses deeply values our partnership with the New Bridge Foundation. We look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come and continuing to serve those whose recovery journeys are made a little easier through the gift of live music.
